Discover the dynamic fusion of the real and the imagined in an exhibition of new landscape paintings by Larry Groff. This exhibition juxtaposes works painted from direct observation with landscapes conceived entirely from the artist’s imagination, created using the computer and archival prints enhanced with acrylic paint and mixed media. The collection features scenes of San Diego backcountry, urban harbor views, landscapes of Italy, and imaginative pieces inspired by painters such as Corot and Bruegel. Explore this showing of modern, painterly works that blur the lines between reality and imagination.
Larry Groff is a San Diego-based painter originally from Boston, Massachusetts. He earned his B.F.A. in Painting from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1988 and attended the Yale University Summer School of Art and Music. In 1993, he received his M.F.A. in Painting from Boston University.
He is currently represented in San Diego by the Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, where he has had three solo exhibitions. Groff is also a member of the Prince Street Gallery in New York City, where he has presented four solo exhibitions. His work has been shown nationally in a wide range of group shows.
